Ever wonder how many Rugs are there in the world ?!Sure you have your Shag rug , colonial etc. And i do find the CowHide Rugs funny. But why so many ? For show ? Well if you look at some of the rugs over at nilima rugs you will find all sorts of rugs for all sorts of usages. You can even customize them and buy them from there. Nice business. Rug making is an ancient craft, and covers a variety of techniques. But let me tell you about the true KING of RUGS.

The Persian Rug
Also known as the Persian carpet it is a essential part of the Persian art and culture. Carpet-weaving being one of the most distinguished manifestations of Persian culture and art way back since ancient Persia.

They can be divided into three groups:

  • Farsh - its size is greater than 6×4 feet
  • Q?licheh - its your normal day to day rug sized 6×4 feet or smaller
  • Kilim - nomadic carpets ( they also include Zilu which means rough carpet )

This being said I still find the Cowhide Rug funny don’t you ?! :))
